We all liked a book! August 28, 2008

I think it’s safe to say that we all really liked Liz Tuccillo’s How to Be Single. This is important to note because it is exceptionally rare that we are all in agreement over a book. It’s a nice change of pace:) For me, the highlights of this book are the individual story lines of each character (well written, no confusing story lines and it held our interest), the different cultures Tuccillo covers and the variety of single scenarios (from normal to the extreme). Plus, we can all agree that it’s nice to read a book where not everyone has to fall in love by the last chapter. If you have time, I enjoyed this LA Times article about Tuccillo and her writing.

Special thanks to:

Carrie for her delicious salad and if she wants to send the recipe I will paste it on the blog.

Danita for bringing the camera.

Stephanie for bringing baby Lindsay Summer and letting me hold her for pretty much the entire meeting and not displaying visible distress at the thought that I might not give her up.

(And welcome to Lara, with hope you will come back!)

I will be posting more updates on Cambridge READS and events surrounding Julia Alvarez soon (also posted under the “Currently Reading…” page of this blog!
