No obligation book groups? August 25, 2008

Real Simple Magazine online: No Obligation Book Group!

Now, obviously this is in NO WAY suggested as a replacement for our book group, but I really love this idea of a no obligation book group. You can read along, take a peak at what others have to say, and leave your own comment. No meetings, no deadlines. Move at your own pace. I will definitely be checking it out (probably because I will feel the need to comment quite a bit).

1. Every month, Real Simple’s editor chooses four great books
2. You get to vote on which should be read for that month.
3. During the month, the editor will read along with you, posting her/his own insights about the book and guiding the discussion.
4. You can chime in with your own comments or just follow along…no obligation. Nice, isn’t it?
5. Every month a different book will be featured — but you can always go back and comment on older discussions or previous books.

The first book club leader will be Real Simple’s Managing Editor Kristin van Ogtrop. Click here for the four books she’s selected. You can vote until August 31. The book club begins here on September 3, with a new book club starting every month. (Bookmark this page!).

Hi everyone,

Hopefully you are enjoying the rough draft of our new blog! I am pretty excited about it (I mean, it’s not cake, but it is a nice way to pass the time at work!). I don’t want to say too much, because I want to hear what you think (it is easily navigated? too confusing? too many pictures of moi?). Please check it out and add comments and suggestions. And I am totally interested in everything you have to say – bad or good.

I added some pictures of my trip to California…you can see the library at Alcatraz, the San Francisco Library and me at the SFPL. The Sonoma pictures are not up yet:)

Are you excited yet? The Chick Lit Book Group officially has it’s own blog! This is going to be a great opportunity for us to share how fabulous we are with the REST OF THE WORLD! Plus, it’s an easy way to stay connected to each other during the month, share exciting chick lit events, and of course, remember what book we are supposed to be reading. And of course, any group member who wants to write a book review, can guest author a post.
